Our Building Futures training program is intended to prepare individuals for entry to mid-level construction positions specializing in exterior finishing including siding, basic roofing and window/door installation. The program is funded through Alberta Labour. 

 

The flexible Building Futures program will provide 8 to 13 weeks of occupational training that is a combination of classroom training and on the job work experience.   

This FREE flexible 8 to 13 week program includes the following training opportunities:

  • Orientation to the Building Futures Program

  • Thought Patterns for Success Workshop

  • Making Yourself Indispensable

  • Computers for Work – Microsoft Office  – Word & Excel

  • Construction Basics:
    Including:  Safety on the job, Building Materials, Hand & Power Tools, Site Preparation, Basic Framing

  • Construction Essentials:
    Including:  Siding Installation, Window/Door Installation and Basic Roofing

  • Job Finding Club followed by a 3 week action based job search

  • Additional Specialized Training  is available based on your personal career plan
     

Applicants must meet basic eligibility requirements:

  • Unemployed or underemployed

  • Have an employment goal in the construction field of work

  • Ready for work, but needing skill training

  • Participants are eligible to continue earning EI benefits while in training
